This is one of my favorite podcasts…I’m going to have to stop writing that because basically they all are but I really love my guest this week, Vesna (yes, I believe she only has one name) who is a top esthetician in the Baltimore and DC area. She was recommended to me by a friend for a ‘red carpet’ facial, something I had never tried before. 

It was insanely relaxing and made me look like a different woman. I walked in for a facial but left with a lesson about finding happiness, the secret elixirs that keep you young, and does plastic surgery ever work!?? A woman who makes her living from vanity has quite the opposite view. Get ready to fall in love with Vesna and go see her for the 5 minute Brazilian….AMAZEBALLS. It literally was just 5 minutes and she makes her own ALL NATURAL WAX! Does it get any better than that?

Here are Vesna’s quick recipes for detoxing with all natural ingredients…

There are ways to rid your your body of toxins without starving yourself. Here are 5 quick recipes for all-natural detoxing that anyone can do, at any time with common household ingredients. 


All of these methods of detox will allow your body to function more efficiently.  Ridding the body of toxins will boost your immune system, increase energy, speed up metabolism and leave you with a glowing complexion. 


Method 1: Spoon dry white rice (as many scoops as your age) into a glass jar. Add water, seal jar and refrigerate.  Boil and drain each morning. Eat 1 spoonful on an empty stomach and wait 2 hours before next meal. The starch will have been removed from the rice and will pass straight to your intestines where it will absorb toxins before leaving your system. 


Method 2: Combine parsley, lemon juice and garlic in a juicer. Add to water and drink before breakfast and dinner for 3 days. Repeat the next 3 days without the garlic. Repeat another 3 days with garlic again.  After these 9 days, stop for 2 weeks. This recipe is particularly good for breaking down fat cells in the liver and rejuvenating skin. 


Method 3: Pulling: Swish sunflower oil around in your mouth for 10 minutes and then spit into toilet.  The oil will have turned white as it absorbed the toxins through your mouth. An added benefit to this is that it leaves teeth whiter.


Method 4: Blend 1 whole COLD grapefruit with 2 tablespoons of honey.  Drink after a big meal to help digest food. These ingredients mixed together will boost metabolism enough to burn half of the calories you consumed at the meal.


Method 5: Last but not least is the importance of drinking at least 2 liters of water every day especially before and after sleep. The more dehydrated your body, the lower your metabolism.  Hydration also adds to skin’s elasticity and improves complexion.
