Pictures: Rock Your Bod: Positive Body Image Rally 2016

Thank you to everyone who came out to DC’s First Positive Body Image Rally this past Saturday. You are incredible and I’m so grateful that you supported this event. I have gained and lost over 150lbs in my lifetime and I was always the woman at the beach covered from head to toe so no one could see my body.

I hated myself for years. I was ashamed of my body, and the idea of wearing bikini in public was something I could never imagine. What would people think of my body? I was so fat, so unattractive. After years of hating myself I discovered mindful eating and living. Over the course of the past four years I’ve learned to love myself and celebrate what I look like just as I am.

As long as I’m healthy and alive I no longer care if I’m a size 2 or 22. I believe that no one should spend one more summer or one more day hating the way they look. You can learn to love yourself and put it all out there even if you never lose one pound.

Thank you to our sponsors, partners, and the great people that made Saturday possible. South Moon Under, CorePower Yoga, Active Minds, Artist Kelly Hogan, Better Beast, Chuck Carroll, Pelonkey, DJ Neekola, Samy K, Brendan Petrizzo, Ellie Romsloe, Rocklands BBQ, Ashley Fassell, Jen Eun, Mark Webster, DJ Rene, DC Improv, Stylist Rachel Kohlhaas, Sarah Clayton, Park Services, and most of all YOU.
